Police respond to the scene of a suspicious package.

The El Paso Police Bomb Squad converged Monday afternoon on a residential neighborhood on the city’s far east side after a suspicious package was discovered.

But just over an hour later, police said they were clearing the scene after finding the owner of the package and determining that the item was “non-hazardous.”

The package discovery happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 11900 block of Van Gough near the intersection with Pullman, and streets in the area were blocked off as the Bomb Squad examined the device — although there were no evacuations.
