Arrest made after Socorro shooting that wounded 2, prompted high school lockout
SOCORRO, Texas -- Socorro police said Wednesday they had made an arrest following the wounding of two people in a shooting Tuesday afternoon that happened in the area of Apodaca and Socorro Road.
"Socorro Police have the shooter in custody and there is no danger of a threat to the community," the police department said in a statement, but it did not indicate the specific charges being filed.
Socorro High School was placed on lockout following Tuesday's shooting. A 'lockout' is when everyone in the school is brought indoors and no one else is allowed on the campus, but classes remain on schedule. Socorro Independent School District officials confirmed the lockout was lifted a short time later and students were released as normal.
Police claimed in Wednesday's statement that they could release few details about the shooting because the case involved juveniles.
