Annual El Paso Crime Victims Walk to pay tribute to Walmart mass shooting victims
EL PASO, Texas -- For the 13th year in a row, the El Paso District Attorney's office is holding its Crime Victims Walk. Each year, hundreds of people walk to remember those people who were victims of violent crime or honor those affected by violent crime.
This year's walk will be held on Sunday, November 3, three months after the tragic mass shooting at the Cielo Vista Walmart. The five mile walk begins at Ascarate Park and ends at the Crime Victims Memorial Park, 610 North Yarbrough. The theme for this year's walk is "On the Path to Healing."
Joining crime victims, their families and friends on the 5-mile trek will be prosecutors, victim advocates and victim service providers, members of law enforcement and the community.
The County has waived the entrance fee into Ascarate on Sunday, November 3rd from 6AM to 1PM.
The event is free to participate, but you must register in advance. You can do so by going to http://www.epcounty.com/da and click on the link. Packet Pick-Up will be Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd from 10AM to 7PM at the Family Youth Services Center at 6314 Delta Dr. The packet includes a free t-shirt. Sizes and availability on a first-come, first-serve basis.
