Arrest warrant for mom’s murder issued for father of missing New Mexico boy
ROSWELL, New Mexico -- An arrest warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for the father of a boy who is the subject of an Amber Alert, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Police in New Mexico remain on the hunt for the 3-year-old boy who went missing after his mother dead in their Roswell home.
An Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday to find 3-year-old Osiel Ernesto Rico who Roswell Police Department investigators believe is with his father Jorge Rico-Ruvira, who has been named the suspect in the mother's death.
Family members found the body of 27-year-old Isela Mauricio-Sanchez inside her home in the 600 block of East Forest Street in Roswell and called police. Her death was classified as a homicide, officials said.
"Until the deceased woman was discovered and we responded there, it was then following that investigation, that we learned that she has a 3-year-old son that was missing," said Todd Wildermuth, a public information officer for the Roswell Police Department.
Police have said the boy is believed to be in danger if he is not located.
Osiel is described as 2 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 40 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes -- and it's unknown what he was wearing, police said.
Rico-Ruvira is 5-foot, 8 inches tall, 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair -- is believed to be driving a 2003 maroon GMC Yukon SUV with a New Mexico turquoise license plate MNF231, police said.
The FBI is working with the local police department in locating the father and son.
Authorities said anyone with information should contact Roswell Police at 1-800-457-3463 or dial 911.
