Man accused of randomly stabbing child multiple times at El Paso McDonald’s held on $500k bond, has extensive criminal history
EL PASO, Texas -- A 25-year-old man is jailed on $500,000 bond, authorities said Wednesday, accused of randomly stabbing a child multiple times the day before while she was in the play area at a McDonald's restaurant in northeast El Paso.
Isaac Dorfman was being held in the downtown El Paso County jail on a charge of injury to a child. Court records reviewed by ABC-7 showed Dorfman has an extensive criminal history dating back nearly a decade.

A hospital spokesman said the girl - who is 5 years old - remained in serious but stable condition Wednesday at El Paso Children's Hospital after undergoing surgery. A police arrest affidavit obtained by ABC-7 alleged that Dorfman grabbed the girl while she was climbing a slide in the "play place" area of the restaurant and stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen.
Dorfman fled on foot from the McDonald's at 9461 Dyer Street on Tuesday afternoon, but was found hiding at the nearby Super Lodge motel and was arrested, police said. The affidavit said the girl's grandmother, who was with her at the time of the attack, identified Dorfman as the stabber.
"Detectives know that several customers/witnesses left prior to officers arriving at the scene," a police spokesman said, requesting that any witnesses to the attack contact the police department's Crimes Against Children unit at (915) 212-0382. The spokesman told ABC-7 that officers did not recover the knife used in the stabbing.
Meantime, the El Paso County District Attorney's Office confirmed court records reviewed by ABC-7 that showed Dorfman has had at least 18 different criminal cases brought against him since 2011.
His most recent arrest came last October on a charge of aggravated burglary. He was scheduled for an April 20 trial in that case.
Dorfman was sentenced to a year in jail in 2015 after pleading guilty in up to a half-dozen car burglaries.
Other charges over the years have included instances of alleged drug possession, as well as home burglary, driving without a license, harassment of a public official and a probation violation.
Some of those court cases brought against Dorfman were dismissed, records showed, however the detail of the reasons for those dismissals were not immediately available. It appeared he was frequently represented by public defenders.
Police told ABC-7 that Dorfman grew up in El Paso, having attending Delta Academy and Irvin High School but it wasn't immediately know if he had graduated from either school.
