Texas Amber Alert issued after man allegedly shoots woman, takes 7-month-old boy
PORT ARTHUR, Texas -- A statewide Amber Alert was issued Monday evening for a 7-month-old Texas boy who police say was abducted following a shooting earlier in the day.
ABC affiliate KLTV reports that a woman who was shot around 3:30 p.m. in Port Arthur told police that the boy’s father, identified as 26-year-old Nathan Roberts Jr., shot her and fled with their baby.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the missing boy is 7-month-old Jason Roberts. The baby is about 2 feet tall, weighs 27 lbs. and was last seen wearing a gray onesie.
Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and black pants driving a gold Jeep Cherokee. Nathan Roberts is described as 5 foot 10 inches and weighs 178 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of the abducted boy to call 9-1-1 or contact Det. Guedry of the Port Arthur police at 409-960-8448.
