Sunland Park man charged with molesting 2 girls for years ordered held without bond until trial
UPDATE: In a ruling Friday, Judge Casey Finch found Jorge Esquivel-Gallardo to be "dangerous" and said that no conditions of release would reasonably protect the community.
He ordered the 50-year-old Esquivel-Gallardo to remain held without bond until trial on charges he sexually molested two girls over more than a decade.
Doña Ana County District Attorney Mark D’ Antonio said interviews with the victims "disclosed the sexual grooming, assault and rape have spanned a period of over 10 years and happened when both victims were between the ages of 7 to 17."
ORIGINAL REPORT, Oct. 5: SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico – A Sunland Park man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two young girls over the span of 12 years, authorities said Monday.
Jorge Esquivel-Gallardo, 50, was arrested and charged with 13 counts, including kidnapping, criminal sexual penetration of a child and abuse of a child.
Esquivel-Gallardo was taken into custody on Sunday by the Sunland Park Police Department and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with no bond.
