El Paso police find drugs, money, guns in shooting victim’s apartment

UPDATE, Feb. 17: Police on Wednesday identified a 40-year-old man as the shooting victim at an east El Paso apartment complex.

Investigators also said they found drugs, money and guns in the apartment belonging to shooting victim Ronald Saunders on Tuesday night.

"Officers arrived and found the victim of a gunshot wound responsive and coherent," Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said. "The victim described the offenders but stated he did not want to press charges."

Detectives are, nonetheless, investigating the shooting and the discovery of the drugs, money and guns. Police didn't indicate the quantities seized, nor did they indicate what charges Saudners could face.

ORIGINAL REPORT, Feb. 16: EL PASO, Texas -- A man was shot and wounded Tuesday night around an apartment complex in east El Paso.

Police reported the shooting around 10:30 p.m. in the 7900 block of Viscount Boulevard, which is the La Estancia Apartments.

Authorities said the shooting victim was taken to a local hospital, but there was no word on his condition.

Investigators didn't indicate what led up to the gunfire, nor did they indicate if any arrests had been made.

No further details were immediately available late Tuesday night.
