El Pasoan accused of driving Lamborghini 140 mph in fatal DUI crash with moped in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nevada — A 58-year-old moped rider was struck and killed this week in a suspected drunk driving crash a few blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip and the El Paso driver of the sports car who hit him at a high rate of speed was taken into custody.
Police told ABC affiliate KTNV that a Lamborghini being driven at an "extremely high rate of speed" - estimated to be roughly 140 miles per hour - hit the rear of the moped along a city street on June 5.
The driver of that Lamborghini was identified by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police as 32-year-old Andrew James Rodriguez of El Paso, Texas.
The moped rider, Walter Anderson of Las Vegas, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Rodriguez “displayed indicators of alcohol impairment” and was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing death and reckless driving. He was later released after posting $75,000 bond.
His passenger in the Lamborghini, 24-year-old Sabrina Juenger of San Antonio, Texas, was not injured and not charged.
