37-year-old man critically hurt in far east El Paso stabbing; attacker sought
UPDATE: A 37-year-old man remain hospitalized Saturday afternoon in critical but stable condition after being stabbed multiple times in a far east El Paso shopping center parking lot overnight, authorities said.
The victim's name was not released and investigators put out a public call for help in finding the victim's attacker.
El Paso police asked anyone with information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477 or EPPD's non-emergency number at 915-832-4400.
ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas -- Detectives were investigating a late night stabbing in far east El Paso that left a man severely wounded.
El Paso police said it happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday at 1950 Joe Battle. That address is the El Mercado Plaza shopping complex, which includes a JC Penney department store along with other merchants.
Yellow crime scene tape was erected around a car in a parking lot behind the store as police gathered evidence into the early morning hours; that car was later impounded and towed away by authorities.
The stabbing victim was taken by ambulance to Del Sol Medical Center with what first-responders described as life-threatening injuries. Scanner traffic indicated the man had been stabbed multiple times.
Authorities had no further details to provide on the incident early Saturday.
