Update: El Paso Police identify the victim as 21-year-old Bryan Castillo. Police officials say officers found Castillo in the apartment parking lot with gunshot wounds and that he died after emergency crews rushed him to the hospital.
The Crimes Against Persons unit is still investigating the shooting. They are referring to this incident as a murder.
ABC-7 spoke to Castillo's friend, Flabio Salcido, who says Bryan was like a brother to him..
He said they bonded by making rap music together and always talked about how they would achieve bigger goals in life.
"Still, I'm still feeling like this is a dream, but it's not. When I wake up, this is not happening," said Salcido. "Feel like I lost my brother straight up, feels really bad. He would give a lot to people. He gave me, when I had no food, he brought me my groceries, he did a lot of good things for me, when I had nothing."
Living out of town, Salcido said he was set to visit Castillo in one month. He said he wishes he could talk to him one more time. Now all he wants is justice.
"Fair justice, the people who was involved to get caught, and for them to feel remorse for what they did, because they killed an innocent person that day, that they killed a person that didn't need to go," said Salcido.
"Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation," police officials stated Wednesday. "Members of the community who have any details that could lead to further understanding or resolution of this case are encouraged to contact the El Paso Police Department at the non-emergency line of 915-832-4400. To remain anonymous, individuals can also reach out to Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS)."
