Fire Marshals determine early morning fire was started by a person, criminal investigation opened
Update: El Paso Fire Department officials say that the Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was caused by a "reckless act of a person (or persons)." A criminal investigation is being opened, an EPFD spokesperson told ABC-7.
The fire was classified as moderate in intensity. When fire crews arrived, the house was fully consumed by fire, officials say. Crews stopped the flames from spreading from other buildings. The house was empty at the time and no one was reported injured.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- An investigation is underway after a house fire was put out in South-Central El Paso Tuesday morning. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Fire officials say the call came in at 3:10 a.m. The fire was classified as condition 2 and happened at an abandoned house on 4115 Myrtle Ave. The fire was put out by 5:00 a.m.
El Paso fire marshals are currently investigating and firefighters are checking for hotspots.
