Pedestrian killed on Montwood
Update (February 24, 2025): Special Traffic Investigators say Manuel Hidalgo Fierro, 79, was traveling on an electric mobility scooter. He started crossing Montwood as the car was traveling east on Montwood, approaching Lake Omega.
Police say that the driver had a green light and that Fierro crossed "against a no-walk signal."
"Hernandez was unable to avoid Mr. Fierro striking him in the crosswalk," a police official explained. "The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries."
Police say that this is the seventh traffic fatality of the year, compared with ten this time last year.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - El Paso Police Special Traffic Investigators respond to intersection of Montwood Dr. and Lake Omega St. after one person received serious injuries after being run over by a vehicle in East El Paso.
El Paso Fire says the Fire Star helicopter was originally requested for transport, but was later cancelled.
The call came in at about about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.
