Pedestrian seriously injured

Update (February 24, 2025): Special Traffic Investigators say Manuel Hidalgo Fierro, 79, was traveling on an electric mobility scooter. He started crossing Montwood as the car was traveling east on Montwood, approaching Lake Omega.

Police say that the driver had a green light and that Fierro crossed "against a no-walk signal."

"Hernandez was unable to avoid Mr. Fierro striking him in the crosswalk," a police official explained. "The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries."

Police say that this is the seventh traffic fatality of the year, compared with ten this time last year.
