Update (March 19, 2025): El Paso police just identified the driver who died as Kentate Lamon Hubbard, 45. Police say that Hubbard was traveling south on Gateway when he hit the back of a dump truck carrying a load of sand. Hubbard died at the scene, police officials say.

"Contributing factors to this incident may have been high winds, low visibility, and speeding on behalf of Hubbard," a police spokesperson explained today.

Police say that this is the 12th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 12 this time last year.

Update: A dark-colored pickup truck was seriously damaged in the crash.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was a large white construction truck. One of the rear axles of that truck seemed to have detached and was laying on the road near the smaller truck

ABC-7 crews noticed the strong winds, blowing dust and low visibility in the area. It's unclear at this point whether or not that was a contributing factor in the crash.
