Woman killed in Sunset Heights crash identified
Update: El Paso Police just announced that Diana Chagah Garcia, 21, died as a result of her injuries.
Special Traffic Investigators say a car was traveling south on Mesa when it changed lanes and hit another car. The crash caused the second car to veer onto the sidewalk, hitting three of the five people walking there at the time. The first car then sped off, police say.
Police arrested the driver of the second car for marijuana possession. Investigators are now asking anyone who has information on the crash to call the non-emergency number of (915) 832-4400 or to remain anonymous, contact El Paso Crime Stoppers Of El Paso at (915) 566-TIPS(8477).
Update: The El Paso Fire Department has confirmed three people were taken to the hospital with severe injuries after being hit.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- At least one person has been hospitalized after a car hit someone in Central El Paso Monday night.
It happened at E Cliff Dr & N Mesa St at 10:47 p.m., according to police. The scene remains closed this morning.
Our ABC-7 crew did see one person receive medical attention at the scene and get taken away in an ambulance. Our crews say at least one other person was transported as well.
