WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris has praised the 2022 WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces for showing “grit and determination” on and off the court. The Aces were honored at the White House on Friday. Harris noted that the team is relatively new to Las Vegas but already is the first major professional sports team in Nevada history to win a championship. She also highlighted their work off the court serving the community and advocating for students, pay equity, voting rights and LGBTQ rights. Harris commended the Aces for speaking up for the WNBA’s Brittney Griner after Russian authorities detained her for 10 months last year.
