Alex Murdaugh sentenced to 27 years for financial fraud after victims angrily confront him in court

Disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for stealing $12 million from his clients and family law firm. Tuesday’s sentencing came after several of his 18 victims let Murdaugh know just how much he had harmed them. Among those testifying was his childhood friend Jordan Jinks, who said he was heartbroken not just by the thousands of dollars that Murdaugh stole from him, but by what he took from others. The sentence was part of a plea deal. Murdaugh is already serving a life sentence without parole for the slayings of his wife and younger son, a conviction he is appealing. He adamantly denies having killed them.
