Ex-CIA computer engineer gets 40 years in prison for giving spy agency hacking secrets to WikiLeaks

NEW YORK (AP) — A former CIA software engineer has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for what the government called the biggest theft of classified information in CIA history and for possession of child sexual abuse images and videos. Joshua Schulte’s sentence was announced Thursday in Manhattan federal court by Judge Jesse M. Furman. Furman cited harsh conditions at a Brooklyn federal jail partly for why he didn’t grant the government’s request for a life term. Schulte claimed he turned down an offer by prosecutors four years ago to plead guilty and serve 10 years in prison. Furman said he was “blown away” by Schulte’s complete lack of remorse.
