Juarez landfill catches fire, sending smoke over the Borderland

KVIA

JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) -- A landfill in Juarez is on fire again, according to our news partners, Channel 44.

This is the sixth time this year that a Juarez landfill has burned. The last reported fire happened just five days ago.

In the past, Juarez landfill fires have created smoke that has caused respiratory issues for Borderland residents.

Residents in other parts of the Borderland, including El Paso, are noticing the smoke. Some of that smoke is making its way over the border.

ABC-7 is working to find out what caused the blaze. Details are limited at this time. This is a developing story. We will update you as we learn more.
