ICE inspection reports 49 deficiencies in national standards at Camp East Montana

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released an inspection report on Camp East Montana, the immigration detention facility on Fort Bliss. ABC-7 obtained a copy of the report Thursday. It lists 49 deficiencies in national standards, including in medical care and facility security.

The inspection took place between Feb. 20 and 12, and covered 24 standards reviewed by the ICE Office of Detention Oversight (ODO). It found the facility complied with 15 standards. The 49 deficiencies were found in the nine remaining standards. According to the report, major deficiencies include:

  • 22 regarding the use of force and restraints
  • 11 regarding facility security and control
  • 5 regarding medical care

Three deficiencies were listed as priority component deficiencies in the report. Two were under the facility's security and control component. The third was under the medical care component.
