Wiwynn Corporation investing $152 million in new Socorro facility

SOCORRO, Texas (KVIA) -- Wiwynn Corporation is establishing a new manufacturing and testing facility at the Socorro Logistics Center. The company is projected to invest $152 million in the project, and as a result create 514 high-skill jobs.

Wiwynn is a Taiwanese server, storage system, and networking equipment design, manufacturing, and delivery company. The company caters to data centers. The new facility will help to meet the growing demand for advanced cloud infrastructure, a spokesperson for the City of Socorro explained.

"This transformative development- the first of its kind in Socorro- was made possible through the City's Choose Socorro initiative, led by the City Development Office," a city spokesperson explained. "A targeted strategy of economic stimulus packages, proposals, and presentations to City Council, El Paso County, and the Borderplex Alliance helped attract and secure this international expansion.
