EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Starting April 8, the El Paso International Airport will use artificial intelligence with the goal to make visitor parking "more convenient" and ticket-less, the City of El Paso announced Thursday.

"Parking should be the easiest part of the journey, and this partnership with Metropolis allows travelers to simply drive-in and drive-out without tickets, kiosks, or delays," Airport Director Tony Nevarez said.

Metropolis, an AI company, will provide a checkout-free payment process across all airport lots.

According to the city, you will soon be able to pay for parking by using your phone to scan a QR code at the parking lot entrance. You'll be directed to create an account. Once you leave the lot, your payment will deduct with an electronic receipt.

The city said manual and cash payments will still be accepted for those who do not create an account for the new system.
