Update (October 24, 2024): Court documents newly obtained by ABC-7 reveal that Shreve, an EPISD police officer, was driving in his personal truck to another job, wearing a uniform, when he was involved in what police describe as a "road rage" incident. Court documents state that Shreve told investigators he started chasing after the other car and fired at it multiple times, even calling into his EPISD police radio. His supervisor told him to stop.

Police say that Shreve reported to officers that his car had been rear-ended and he had feared for his life when he shot at the victim's truck and drove after the victim. Shreve says he then stopped following the truck and called police, investigators say.

Investigators say they then uncovered that Shreve's story did not match the evidence.

Update (September 26, 2024): The El Paso Police Department is asking anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.

"We urge anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has any information—no matter how small to come forward," an EPPD spokesperson said Thursday. "Your insights could be vital in helping law enforcement with the investigation and any assistance from the community is appreciated."

Police say witnesses can call the Crimes Against Persons Unit at 915-212-4040 or Crimes Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 to remain anonymous.
