Loop 375 reopens to traffic following cleanup from massive fuel tanker fire

A portion of Loop 375 that was closed for cleanup from a massive fuel tanker fire overnight finally reopened to traffic on Thursday afternoon.

It took nearly ten hours for that stretch of Loop 375 from the Railroad exit to Spur-601 to be cleared.

The tanker blaze sent huge plumes of smoke and flames shooting into the night sky when it happened at Loop 375 and Sgt. Major Boulevard around 3:15 a.m.

Firefighters from the El Paso and Fort Bliss fire departments were able to contain the blaze without any injuries.

Authorities said they were investigating to try to determine what sparked the fire.
