EL PASO, Texas -- The Paso Del Norte Port of Entry was closed crossing into Mexico for a portion of Sunday after a high-speed chase ended with a car crashing into a Customs and Border Protection booth.

The driver of that car, 21-year-old Alexis Fernando Ordaz of Socorro, was arrested and being held by Homeland Security. Authorities did not detail the charges against him.

The chase began just before 8 a.m. with Texas Dept. of Transportation camera images on Loop 375 showing a car that appeared to come from the east area of El Paso County being pursued by police.

The chase ended around 9 a.m. with the crash near downtown El Paso at the Paso Del Norte bridge.
