EL PASO, Texas -- A worker died in an overnight industrial accident after being pinned by a forklift at a distribution center in east El Paso, officials said Wednesday.

The body of 56-year-old Lorenzo Armando Rubio was found by co-workers arriving for the morning shift at the Toro warehouse in the 1400 block of Don Haskins Drive, according to police.

Rubio was working alone in a section of the warehouse late Tuesday night when he "became pinned between the standup fork lift he was operating and a storage rack," said police Sgt. Enrique Carillo.

Toro officials said they were working with investigators to determine what led up to the deadly incident at the facility.

"This is a tragic day for the family, employees and the entire organization that have been affected by the death of an employee at our El Paso distribution center," said Robert Schmitt, the company's senior human resources manager.
