Texas Guardsman who worked at El Paso food bank contracts virus
EL PASO, Texas -- A Texas National Guardsman who worked at the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank has tested positive for Covid-19, an official with the food bank confirmed Tuesday.
The food bank continues to operate and has "low risk" of virus exposure, said Marty Otero, director of communications for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger.
"We continue to take appropriate measures to keep our volunteers, temporary workers, employees and community safe," Otero said.
Otero said she did not have any information on what the Guard member had done at the food bank or when they had worked there.
During the pandemic, El Pasoans Fighting Hunger has used a drive-thru distribution system at all its distribution sites to minimize the risk of coronavirus, Otero said.
