Power completely restored to thousands after transmission line outage in far east El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Electric said it had completely restored service just before 11 a.m. Wednesday to thousands who lost power after an issue with a transmission line in parts of the far east side overnight.

Utility crews said they found downed wires in the 9500 block of Desert Ridge that contributed to the problem as they worked for hours to get electricity back on for everyone.

The utility's outage map had showed more than 11,000 customers were affected in the Montana Vista area at the height of the outage, which was first reported at 1:45 a.m.; there were also scattered outages overnight in east El Paso near Hawkins and Montwood.
