Weather to blame for west El Paso power outage impacting over 3,000

MGN

EL PASO, Texas -- Several thousand were without electricity for about 90 minutes Thursday afternoon during a power outage on El Paso's west side blamed on weather conditions as rain fell across the city.

An El Paso Electric spokesman said power had been fully restored to all around 2:50 p.m.; roughly 3,250 customers had been impacted by the outage that occurred just before 1:15 p.m.

The utility company said the outage, which was weather-related, had been concentrated in an area off E. Redd Road near Artcraft.

"Crews were able to install a temporary pole to get power to customers," EPE spokesman Javier Camacho explained. "We will be able to make permanent repairs without impacting service to customers."
