Suspect in custody after SWAT standoff in northeast El Paso

UPDATE, 8:05 p.m.: A spokesman for the El Paso Police Department said a suspect was in custody after the SWAT standoff in northeast El Paso.

Police did not immediately identify the suspect.

ORIGINAL STORY, 7:45 p.m.: EL PASO, Texas - Officers with the El Paso Police Department are in a SWAT standoff with a barricaded person in the northeast, a spokesman for the department confirmed.

The SWAT team was called to assist the gang unit on the 5500 block of Norwood Saturday evening, according to the department.

No other information was immediately available.
