American flags line El Paso street in honor of Memorial Day

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 captured video of American flags waving in the wind along the walking path at Edgemere Park in East El Paso. They were placed along the path in memory of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day was first called Decoration Day, established during the Civil War. People who had lost loved ones in the fighting marked the day by placing flowers on their graves.

The holiday's name was changed post-World War I, and the day was expanded to commemorate the fallen servicemembers of all U.S. wars. Memorial Day is marked on the last Monday of May each year.
