Ivan Melendez launches his 8th homerun of the season
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- On Saturday, Coronado Grad Ivan Melendez played his first game of High-A baseball since May 28th.
The El Pasoan had three chances at the plate and in the top of the fifth thrashed a two-run home run to left field.
It marks the 8th homerun for Melendez this season with the Hillsboro Hops, the High-A affiliate of the Diamondbacks.
Melendez now also has 23 RBIs and 29 hits in 30 games for the Hops.
Hillsboro lost 9-6 to Everett on Saturday. The two teams will play again in the final game of the series Sunday at 3.05 p.m. PDT.
