El Paso shoppers flock to shopping malls this Black Friday
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Thousands of Borderland shoppers headed out to local shopping centers this Black Friday.
ABC-7 crews witnessed lines of people gathering outside of Cielo Vista Mall in East El Paso Friday morning. Shoppers said they were looking for the best deals in electronics and clothes.
ABC-7 spoke with the general of The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso. Carlos Rodriguez said there was a large turnout Friday morning.
"Turnout has been fantastic, much better than last year. We're getting beautiful weather out here. And plus with all the news stories that we've had that we've added this year, they're definitely out here shopping," Rodriguez said.
The general manager said there are over 100 stores, including brand new ones to the area.
"We have national brands that you can't find anywhere close by. If you want to shop these stores, you got to go to Phoenix or San Antonio. So we brought in Kate Spade just last week, Lacoste, Vineyard Vines, a lot of great new brands to the market."
He said there was a large variety of shoppers at the mall.
"This year has been a little bit of everything. And looking at everybody's shopping bags, there's definitely a lot of the new stores out there, but definitely still a lot of our our classic stores. Everybody is there. It's a great mixture that we have," he said.
ABC-7 spoke to one shopper who drove at least 45 minutes. Daluphia Donaldson said she came to The Outlet Shoppes all the way from Horizon City.
"Wonderful! It was some good sales," Daluphia said.
Anthony Rivera said he was on the search for deals on clothing for his entire family.
"Itās like our family tradition, I guess you can say, because we are from Las Cruces so we always come out here to The Outlets, pretty good tradition. I think we are here for the same reason," he said.
Joe Avalos also said he came to the Outlet Shoppes from out of town.
"I hadnāt seen it like this, so itās pretty nice actually. We got really good deals everywhere we stopped at. So I like it," Avalos said.
Avalos encouraged others to shop early and also give to others this holiday season.
