Veronica Carbajal and Josh Acevedo in tight race for District 2 seat, will likely go to runoff election

Update: Results from the El Paso County Elections Department show a tight race between District 2 candidates Veronica Carbajal and Josh Acevedo.

Both are falling short of the simple majority needed to be named the winner. If no candidate achieves 50% of votes, there will be a runoff election on January 20th.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Polls are closed and unofficial early voting results are in for El Paso's District 2 2023 special election.

Based off of the unofficial early voting results, two candidates are leading by a significant amount. They are Veronica Carbajal and Josh Acevedo.
