EL PASO, Texas -- With Veterans Day celebrations taking place across the Borderland community, the Del Sol Medical Center is working to make sure that America’s military men and women have the job skills to transition into the civilian work force after returning from the battle field.

The hospital has partnered with the "Hiring Our Heroes" organization to host a medical fellowship for active duty veterans, such as former U.S. Army nurse Christopher Lindner who has already spent several weeks learning at the hospital.

“There is a wide range of things that i get to learn here that I would not have learned if I had stayed working at Fort Bliss," said Lindner.

Other aspects of "Hiring Our Heroes" includes corporate fellowships, technician education and a caregiver program.

"Hiring our Heroes" was first launched by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation back in 2011.

The services that the group offers to veterans are completely free of charge and a link to their website can be found here.
