Funeral set for prominent El Paso veteran John Ceballos, who died of Covid-19

UPDATE, Sept. 24: Funeral arrangements for prominent El Paso veteran and community leader John Ceballos have been announced.

His viewing will be at Martin Funeral Home, 128 N Resler Drive in El Paso, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Family and friends will lay him to rest at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Oct. 6.

He died earlier this week after being hospitalized for Covid-19.

ORIGINAL REPORT, Sept. 21: EL PASO, Texas -- John Ceballos, a former paratrooper, advocate and friend to many El Paso veterans has died from complications of Covid-19.

The El Paso Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association said Ceballos, who was the longtime chairman of their group, passed away on Monday at University Medical Center of El Paso.

Ceballos was also a lifetime member of the association.

"His commitment and passion for all of the veteran paratroopers will be severely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends," said a statement issued Tuesday by the El Paso Chapter.

The organization said funeral arrangements for Ceballos are pending.

  1. Rest in Peach John. Your friendship will be sorely missed. You were a hero and an example of what a true patriot is. My deepest condolences to your family and friends.

  2. Isn’t it a coincidence all the war hero trophy collectors are WHITE? Lol. That’s because they hid and backed away from combat. That’s why the most common response is , “ i don’t deserve it”. Damn right you don’t!
