LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Officers and civilian employees within the Las Cruces Police Department sent a message of love and support on Friday to a 6-year-old girl undergoing heart procedures in Colorado.

Aleah Munez, 6, is a student at Highland Elementary School, according to the department.

Her uncle, LCPD Sgt. Horacio Rivera, was grateful for the love and support from the men and women of the force.

"She's very shy, but she'll give you all her love and attention," Sgt. Rivera said on Friday. "She's a beautiful soul. I love her."

Staffers in the police department gathered on Friday to hold a banner that read "#AleahStrong," donated by House of Grafix.

"LCPD extends its collective prayers to Aleah, her family and to the skilled medical professionals who are caring for her," wrote the department in a Facebook post. "We wish her a full and speedy recovery."
