MGN

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Almost 2,000 homes and businesses in Las Cruces were impacted by a power outage for about 90 minutes Tuesday evening after the day's high temperatures reached just shy of triple-digits.

The El Paso Electric Co. outage map reflected the outage involving 1,950 customers occurred around 5:10 p.m.; an EPE spokesman said the problem was traced to an electrical substation.

The cause of the power loss was under investigation, however the hot weather has been a factor in other recent outages.

Utility crews worked to reroute power in order to restore service about 6:40 p.m. to all customers while they continued working to make repairs.
