Enjoy live music and more this weekend at Silver City Blues Festival

SILVER CITY, New Mexico (KVIA) - The 28th Annual Silver City Blues Festival will take place May 27, 2023, Memorial Day weekend, at Gough Park in Silver City, NM. This year’s festival continues to be free for all to enjoy. It is supported by local businesses and individual blues lovers, and especially by donations from attendees.

The festival is pleased to present five great performers including Dirty Red & the Soul Shakers, from Oklahoma, a lone weeping guitar, blues harmonica and soul filled vocals; Tyron Benoit Band, from New Orleans, LA, a band as diverse as Cajun culture with a dash of Zydeco, a pinch of rock, and a sprinkle of Americano; Ghost Town Blues Band, from TN, a band that captivates their audience with cigar box guitars, electric push brooms, and a hip-hop trombone player; Blues Dawg, originally founded in LA is now a local, high-energy electric blues band in Silver City, NM. With their entertaining mix of rockin’ blues and classic rock, Blues Dawg is becoming a very popular band in Southwest New Mexico; and Famous Raymos, a local band to Silver City, NM, with a long and interesting history dating back as far as 1903. This band consists of many incredible musicians and their instruments including piano, keyboards, harmonica, uke, bass, drums, and guitar.

The 2023 Blues Festival will have something for everyone – out of state and local performers, unique vendors from Silver City’s very own Makers Market, beer gardens provided by Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery and Q’s Bistro, food/beverage vendors, and games and activities.

The goal of the festival is to bring amazing entertainment to Silver City, while supporting the local economy. The many businesses that neighbor Gough Park will be open for business, and attendees are encouraged to stop in and say “Hi” and “Thank you” to them for cooperating to put this event together.

Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy this free music festival, and donations are greatly appreciated. All are invited to attend and support the Mimbres Region Arts Council in its mission of nurturing a creative community and benefitting music programs in Grant County.

Don’t forget that once the Blues Festival closes for the evening, you can find more wonderful entertainment in downtown Silver City venues.
