Seven Cabins Fire burning near Capitan, New Mexico

CAPITAN, New Mexico (KVIA) -- The Seven Cabins Fire is burning in the Smokey Bear Ranger District in the Capitan Mountains right now.

The fire is located about about 16 miles northeast of Capitan, New Mexico.

Officials say the fire was caused by lightning and is approximately .25 acres.

Earlier today, a helicopter was overhead looking for potential opportunities for water operations.
