Governor signs public safety bill at Texas capitol

AUSTIN, Texas (KVIA) -- Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill that aims to improve public safety.

Lawmakers passed the bill during the 88th regular legislative session, which ended last month. It is one of many measures passed and signed in the days after the regular session. Abbott called a special session to finish all of the legislative business that would have been put on hold by the end of the regular session.

Governor Abbott was joined at the signing by the bill's authors and sponsors, lawmakers, and public safety officials.
