Update: Texas DPS has expanded its cancelations through Thursday at noon.

AUSTIN, Texas (KVIA) -- If you had an appointment scheduled at a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office Wednesday, that appointment is now canceled.

The department announced that, due to an ongoing upgrade to the driver license system, all appointments made for September 6, 2023 are canceled.

The upgrade started over the Labor Day weekend, but is not yet done. This is also impacting online services, according to department officials.

"The upgrade is impacting all driver license services including renewing or replacing a driver license or identification card, obtaining a driver record and verifying eligibility," a spokesperson wrote in a statement.

All customers with appointments scheduled for Wednesday should receive a notification of the cancelation through email or phone.

The department has not yet said when the update is expected to finish or when these canceled appointments will be rescheduled.
