No state of emergency declaration yet El Paso County Judge tells New York Post
EL PASO, Texas – El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego says the city and county of El Paso is opting not to declare a state of emergency yet, according to an article in the New York Post.
“We actually backed off — the mayor and I backed off,” El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego told the Post.
According to the Post, Samaniego said the reason was there was very little difference between the funding they're getting now and the funding they would get by declaring the emergency.
Samaniego says right now, El Paso could fund the processing center and fund paying volunteers.
