El Paso representative hosts gas card giveaway
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- City Representative Cassandra Hernandez is giving away ten $50 gas cards. She writes in her post that the giveaway is only for El Paso residents.
The giveaway, which Hernandez posted on her government Facebook account, comes as the representative repaid the city more than $6,000.
An internal audit recently found that for calendar year 2022, Hernandez and former District 6 Representative Claudia Rodriguez spent significantly more than their peers. The gas cards do not have a limit and are funded by taxpayer dollars.
City Council will hold a meeting to discuss the gas card usage Thursday.
