All-clear given after Las Cruces school shuts down amid reports of a man with a gun

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Cecilia Romero, Interim Principal of the Alma d'Arte Charter High School sent out an email to parents today saying a lockdown had been lifted Thursday afternoon.

"At approximately 12:00 this afternoon we were notified by LCPD of an incident involving an active shooter in our area.

The school was put in Lockdown. We were just notified by LCPD that we are clear to resume our schedule.

As of now we are in a shelter in place, meaning the student and staff move about the building, however, no one can go outside.

I will keep you abreast of the situation as information becomes available."

Las Cruces Police Department officials now tells ABC-7 that the reports were connected to a person seen walking around with a B-B gun.

Officials say the location is now clear.
