Man hit by car, killed trying to walk across I-10 in East El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A 31-year-old man is dead after Special Traffic Investigators say he tried to cross I-10 west near the Yarbrough exit in East El Paso. The crash happened Saturday night just after 11 p.m.

Police say the man, who has not been identified, was hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old man. Three other people were in that car with the driver, including a 13-year-old girl.

Investigators say the pedestrian's attempt to walk across I-10 was the main contributing factor in the collision. They add that the driver was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

This is the 39th traffic fatality compared to 38 this time last year.
