Suspect in custody following SWAT standoff in downtown El Paso

UPDATE - A subject is now in custody after El Paso Police responded to a barricaded subject in downtown El Paso.

A spokesman for the police department told ABC-7 that an officer recognized a suspect in a recent aggravated assault. The man then barricaded himself inside an apartment.

El Paso Police stated there are more people inside the apartment, and SWAT is working to get those individuals to leave the building.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - El Paso Police SWAT and CMT teams are responding to the 100 block of Brown in central El Paso after a wanted man barricaded inside a building.

Police say were looking for the fugitive when he went into the building and locked himself in.

Police say this is an active and evolving situation.
