33-year-old hit, killed by truck was not in crosswalk, police say

Update (5:37 p.m.): Police identify the driver of the truck as 45-year-old Carlos Lopez and the pedestrian as 33-year-old Humberto Escajeda.

Special Traffic Investigators learned that Escajeda was not in a designated crossing when Lopez's truck hit him. Police say Lopez stayed at the scene and called police.

Police say this is the 69th traffic fatality this year as compared to 64 this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A pedestrian is struck and killed by a car in Central El Paso, Friday morning.

Police received the call before 4:30 a.m. and responded to the area of Montana Ave. and Willow St.

Special Traffic Investigators have been called out.
