New technology in Southern New Mexico to help solve gun crimes

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA)-- National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) machines have been installed in Doña Ana County to hopefully solve gun crimes faster, according to New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez.

Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart joined Torrez in the announcement saying that, "We are not going to win the war of crime or push crime back, or whatever it is we do without collaboration. We are not going to do it without working together."

The machine is meant to conduct technical inspections of gun casings, which officials say would provide more meaningful leads connecting crimes to firearms across the state.
