El Paso County Elections Department receives 12,000 voter records to process in statewide backlog

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - The El Paso County Elections Department received about 12,000 records for processing after a technical error caused a major back log in voter registrations statewide.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) sent the records within the past 24 hours to voter registrars in counties across the state.

According to the El Paso County Elections Department, some of these records "date as far back as October 2025" but were just delivered to registrars this week.

El Paso County Elections administrators want to reassure the county voters their "staff is working diligently to ensure valid voter registrations and updates submitted in a timely manner before the deadline will be processed appropriately."

The elections department added they want to encourage voters to verify their voter registration status and information before October 5th, the deadline for voting in the upcoming November election.
